About The Artist:

Kurtis Ceppetelli was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada in 1977. He began practicing art in his basement at an early age, painting the landscape around him. In 1997, Ceppetelli studied art at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario and received a diploma in Fine Art. In 2000, he moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to attend Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD). There he studied painting and sculpture, receiving a B.A. in Fine Art.

Kurtis Ceppetelli’s work has been described as the break down of space by blocks of brilliant color placed on subject matter such as still life, landscapes, interiors and figures. His compositions tend towards a balance between figurative and abstraction.

Paintings such as ‘Blue Atlantic’ and ‘Boat Race’ were inspired by the beautiful landscape of Halifax’s Eastern Shore. “Looking out onto the Atlantic created emotions within me indescribable for words. There seemed to be an eternity lost within its waters,” stated Ceppetelli.

Currently, Kurtis Ceppetelli resides in Washington, D.C. where he is continuing to paint his surroundings and experimenting with new ideas. Ceppetelli’s new paintings contain a sense of gesture drawing, seen in compositions such as ‘Music’ and ‘Bottle with Orange Flowers’.
