Jana Laughlin is an 18-year-old recent graduate of School Without Walls Senior High School in downtown DC. She has lived in the city for her whole life, but will be off to the University of Wisconsin -- Madison for school in the autumn to see for the first time what it is like to live in a bona fide state. Jana has owned her little digital Nikon for over a year and a half, and has hardly ever paused to put it down. In the height of her infatuation, she took an introduction to photography course in the summer of 2003.

Jana simply approaches the world with an inquisitive eye and happens to sometimes have her camera at hand when she finds something fascinating. It really is just a simple attraction to reflective, shiny, or just eye-catching surroundings that make her wander closer. Jana does not consider herself an authentic photographer and has no idea of what should be done with her life. Nevertheless, if photography calls, she will not hesitate to answer.
